Bukidnon My Home

‘There my heart, yearns to be in far away Bukidnon land
Under its blue, starry skies
Where love and joy never dies’.

As I look towards my homeland, I could never deny the perfectness of the creation of God. Being the heart of Mindanao and is often called the highland paradise, Bukidnon is a land where manmade and natural beauty lies at its best. You may think that Bukidnon is just a common and simple mountainous place, but I tell you, you’ve thought about it wrongly. Well folks, let me tell you what’s in Bukidnon that you’ve got to see.

The province of Bukidnon, of course, is more than just lofty mountains. Majestic sceneries and products are also found here. The steep zigzagging roads, wonderful cut flowers, the biggest flower in the world-rafflesia, the vast pineapple plantations, and green fields in the view are just some of these. See? Bukidnon is more than that; so let’s go over Bukidnon’s spots one by one.

A popular golfing destination, the province takes pride in its Del Monte Golf Club. It is what used to be the rest-and-recreation place of foreigners and other well-to-do families. Being home to Del Monte’s vast pineapple plantation, Bukidnon people are ensured of jobs and work. The province is also the second home of sugar centrals, where sugarcanes are planted in its southern part. Known for its green fields and meadows, cattle and farming industries are mostly found.

Same with Baguio’s climate, Bukidnon also has Malaybalay City with its balmy gentle breeze, commonly called as little Baguio. Impasug-ong too is another scenic spot with superfine ranches and cowboys which makes it the Country’s Home of the Finest Cowboys. In fact, movies had been shot here. They wouldn’t have chosen Bukidnon if not of its natural wonders and potential. It also has waterfalls where water gushes out from rocks as if expansible pipes are hidden on its surface. Another tourist spot is the Dahilayan Adventure Park. Looking to experience the greatest adventure of your life? Be among the first to brave Asia's Longest Dual Zip line and fly like Superman from a launch point at 4,700 feet above sea level. With speeds of up to 90 kph, zoom through lush greenery and breathtaking views only found in the mountains of Dahilayan. Guaranteed safe and fun for every age, Zip zone has become the ultimate adventure destination for young and old alike.

The graceful dancers of Kaamulan Festival
One famous festival in Bukidnon, the Kaamulan Festival has also become traveler’s destination every February and March. It is a tribal tradition depicting indigenous people's love for God and peace. The Festival is annually celebrated to share the cultural creativity of the hill tribes, highlighting the thanksgiving after a bountiful harvest or a gathering after resolving feuds between clans or tribes resulting to a sealed ritual and peace pact, reminding us that the source of life is sacred and heaven-sent.

Bukidnon wouldn’t be that great if not of the peace loving and God fearing people. God is truly great that He made Bukidnon excellently. One would be sure to have an indelible impression on Bukidnon-where love and joy, never die.
